Apresentado pela Blackmagic Design, o Multibridge é um produto multifunções,  que pode ser usado em modo stand alone como um conversor bi-directional  de analógico para digital ou digital para analógico, mas tambem, quando ligado a computadores MAC G5 ou Windows XP através de ligação PCI Express, ser utilizado na captura ou reprodução video.

The All-in-one Converter

Finally there is a simple solution for converting analog equipment to SDI-based digital systems because Multibridge will simultaneously convert from digital to analog, and analog to digital. That's true bidirectional analog video and audio conversion. Multibridge works as an independent converter. Rack mount it so you can convert analog equipment such as Betacam SP decks or HDV cameras.

Capture and Playback

Connect the built-in PCI Express 10 Gbps connection to any supported Windows XP or Mac OS X based computer and Multibridge instantly turns into the ultimate break out box capture and playback solution. At an amazingly high speed of 10 Gbps, PCI Express is 25 times faster than FireWire. PCI Express has the speed to handle high video data rate capture and playback, from 10 bit uncompressed standard definition and high definition video, right up to 12 bit RGB 4:4:4 feature film quality and beyond. PCI Express is low cost because it’s already built into many PC motherboards, and a high quality PCI Express connection cable and computer adapter is included free so you get a complete solution, ready to go. HD Resolution Monitoring

If you're using Multibridge Extreme or Multibridge Studio for rack-mounted conversion or connected to a computer as an editing system, you'll love the full resolution HD monitoring that's included via the built-in DVI-D dual link connection. Connect any inexpensive DVI-D based computer monitor for a great in-rack monitoring solution, or to handle monitoring as part of your edit suite. Unlike CRT displays, LCD monitoring is full HD resolution at much lower cost, and because it’s a fully digital display, you get unprecedented clarity, even with an inexpensive computer LCD display. Multibridge uses the new dual link DVI-D standard which, combined with extra processing power, lets you connect larger displays than any other DVI monitoring solution. 

Fully Featured Audio and Video Support

Need to be ready for HD, while also connecting to analog decks such as Betacam SP? Multibridge Extreme and Multibridge Studio are format agnostic, and include enough video and audio inputs and outputs to connect to virtually anything! Also included is a DVI-D dual link monitor connection so you can connect a low cost computer display for full HD resolution video monitoring.

Multibridge Extreme™ supports both analog and digital audio conversion for an all-in-one compact 1 rack unit size. Video conversion features both analog component RGB/YUV and composite NTSC/PAL. For analog audio, 2 channels in and out of balanced +4dB audio on standard XLR connectors is included. 8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio in and out is built in with each input featuring sample rate conversion. For monitoring, Multibridge Extreme features DVI-D dual link LCD monitor connection combined with unbalanced stereo audio output - great for low cost in-suite monitoring.

Multibridge Studio™ includes all the great features of Multibridge Extreme in an enhanced 2 rack unit size. Multibridge Studio includes 12 channels of AES/EBU audio I/O, 6 unbalanced audio outputs for 5.1 surround sound monitoring or combined with an extra 4 composite NTSC/PAL outputs for dubbing onto multiple VHS or DVD recorders. Multibridge Studio includes a programmable reference sync generator with 4 outputs.

The Dual Link 4:4:4 television standard, as used on the latest Sony HDCAM SR decks, contains additional color detail giving you full RGB color bandwidth and extra precision of up to 10 or 12 bit SDI video. When connected via PCI Express to a host computer, this high quality can be captured and played back completely uncompressed allowing better quality than any other system, at any price. High Definition or Standard Definition

Multibridge features dual rate SDI and is completely format agnostic, so you can switch between high definition or standard definition freely and instantly. You can just as easily connect to 270 Mbps standard definition SDI equipment such as Digital Betacam, as well as 1.485 Gbps high definition SDI equipment such as HDCAM or HD-D5 or even the extreme quality of 12 bit 4:4:4 as used on the new Sony HDCAM SR decks. With the ability to update new formats via USB, you can connect to virtually anything now, and in the future. Multibridge is ideal if you're only working in standard definition, but need to switch to high definition at any time. Multibridge Extreme and Multibridge Studio feature a high speed PCI Express connection so you can connect to a host computer, and then use a wide range of video software for video capture and playback. Down Conversion and Real Time Effects

Multibridge features massive processing power fantastic for broadcast quality HD down conversion and other processing based features. Down conversion is great when Multibridge is used as a standalone converter, or when plugged into Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms via the built-in PCI Express connection, you can playback simultaneous HD and SD - great for monitoring in both standards at the same time. Even complex multi layer HD editing can be down converted and played out in standard definition all in real time. Down conversion uses our custom polyphase interpolation and filtering for incredible quality at the highest 10 bit precision.

Loads of Software Utilities Free

Multibridge runs the famous DeckLink software when connected to a host computer via PCI Express, and you get a wide range of software utilities included free. For broadcast graphics and paint, we include Photoshop plug-ins for capture and output of still frames. If you need DPX image sequence, our new FrameLink lets you access QuickTime and AVI media, as DPX files instantly. The famous Deck Control application lets you control a deck remotely via RS-422 and capture and play clips to and from tape with timecode accuracy, great for broadcast designers. For easy disk array setup we include Disk Speed Test. Real world check your capture disk, with speed results displayed in easy to understand video frames per second. When moving media between systems, use the free Blackmagic Software Codec for opening and rendering media even when you don’t have hardware installed.
